How to reduce the look of your tummy
Reducing the look of your tummy is quite possible – dressing your body structure is like smoke and mirrors; drawing the eye to one area while concealing another.
Here are some tips:
Minimising the look of your stomach requires wearing clothes that have the following features:
Softer fabrics will drape over your curves, cotton or silk jersey, crepe de chine and chiffon will work for evening
Styles that have ruching into the side of the waist with gathers, small tucks or a tie front will show your curves and be flattering
Styles with a cowl neck will draw the eye up and give you extra fabric over your tummy
Empire line works really well if you have a good bust – add decorative detail around the neckline to add personality and glamour
A soft long line jacket or cardigan is a brilliant way of drawing the eye up and down the body
Look for something with a bit of drape, cascading collar or textured weave
Structured shapes can look elegant and will work for business – these will be better if they have a lapel, strong shoulder line and are worn with matching skirt or trouser which will elongate your look
It is often easier to reduce the look of your tummy in a dress than it is in two pieces, again look for:
soft fabrics, draped panels, ruching into the side of your waist and empire line with decoration around the bust.
Plain colours and curved patterns will work better than checks and stripes.
Enjoy your curves and your clothes.
