How reviewing your wardrobe can create clarity and freedom

I spend 4.5 hours this week exploring the wardrobe of a marketing executive.
The objective was to rid the wardrobe of items that do not work, create new combinations with existing articles, reduce the size of the closet and plan future purchases.
Ms B. needs her clothes to be polished and professional and express her creative flair as a brand creator. Recently she has felt overwhelmed and guilty by having too many clothes that she does not use.
The process:
Examine every item of the wardrobe and assess:
It is a match for her STYLE ABC and her lifestyle.
Your STYLE ABC are the critical elements to ensure you look authentic, balanced, and charismatic, which in turn elevates your presence.
When you know your STYLE ABC you will be clear about what works for you and free to give up what is not a match.
Your STYLE ABC is made up of the following elements:
A = ARCHETYPE / MOOD / STYLE / PERSONALITY of your clothes. Your Archetype must capture and celebrate your look and individuality.
B = BODY STRUCTURE, which is about understanding the shape and style of clothing that flatters your structure and harmonises with your Archetype.
C = COLOURING allows you to discover which shades and tones flatter your complexion, leaving you looking radiant and magnetic.
As Ms B. and I have aligned on her STYLE ABC, reviewing the wardrobe was straightforward.
We assessed every item within her closet, considering the personality, shape and colour. As well as fit, quality, appropriateness of the garment, and the essential do “I feel terrific” when I wear this factor.
We completed the session with five categories of clothing
One. Perfect, rehang in the wardrobe with like items and colours
Two. Alterations required to improve the fit
Three. Donate older business clothing to a charity such as “Fitted for Work”.
Giving your unloved business attire to a charity that assists people to get back into employment
will have you feel good about giving them away.
Four. Sell expensive non-business items.
Five. Donate remaining items to a charity
The morning after the wardrobe review, I spoke with Ms B., who said she woke with a sense of relief, having let go of the clothes she no longer needs or enjoys.
I followed the session with an overview of the subsequent steps required to improve her wardrobe.
